Probably one of the better places to dine at in MSP. They have the new dining options in G opening soon but right now, Flights is all you need. I had the Charcuterie plate, the Soba noodles and Salami sandwich on baguette instead of ciabatta. All very tasty and well presented. You can purchase wine to take with you without having to ship it which is a nice option. The service is slow and the set up is strange. They had two counter people, two cooks and one dining area server. The dining area server had to take and run all the food in the dining room as well as outside "patio" while the one counter person takes care of the wine bar and one counter person takes care of the register. In a well oiled machine maybe this would work but when no one is at the wine bar or in line for take out, the two just sit there. At least take or deliver food to the people sitting at the counter. I sat down at 12:45 with a flight at 1:57. Between ordering, waiting for the food to show up and eating, I didn't get to finish my meal and instead took the rest to go. NOTE: I would have given 4 stars if things had gone more smoothly and quickly. Placing the order took a while because the server was busy. The food was made pretty quickly but sat in the pass. I actually asked one of the counter people to grab our food since we were pressed for time but instead she waited then told our server we were waiting for our food. Maybe they are not allowed to because of some rule but it was definitely an irritating reaction to an already irritating situation. I got to my gate at 1:50, just in time to board. My gate was a three minute walk so do the math. 12:45 to 1:47 to order then eat a few bites of soba and half sandwich. I actually had to pay as soon as the food came out because we didn't have anymore time.

How refreshing... Great place to relax. Fortunate (?) to have 3 hours to kill before my flight. Had the brownie and "Tour of Italy" flight. All very good! Plus fantastic selection of music.

I'm a big fan of Surdyk's in Northeast Minneapolis (both the store and the deli), so I was excited to try Surdyk's Flights the last time I was at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport. The experience was great -- the food is made when you order it, the wine and beer selection is second to none, and this is now my favorite place to eat when at the airport. I suggest sitting at the counter or bar, since you can watch the kitchen staff create the artsy plates.

Off the charts!!!!!! Who would ever think that a wine and cheese shop would work in an airport. This place had some of the best food ever. I had a salad, panini, desert and still wanted to order more. Great service and great food in an airport, WOW.

I needed to use up some time while waiting for a shuttle. I was looking for a quiet place with just a bite to eat and some wine. Bonus - I found it all, here! I asked for something light to eat and was recommended to have the fruit and cheese plate - perfect. I have pictures if anyone wants to see the presentation. Also, I have never had quince pate - this was a first - and was wonderful. I also had a flight of wine as I was trying to determine what wine to have during this little snack. The flight was the best choice.

Pretty cool casual place in between Concourse D and F at the airport. You can grab a seat and have a drink/cheese while waiting for your flight or you can grab to-go sandwiches for your flight. The flight of wine is a really great combo to taste the different wine selection.

Spectacular food and wine at the airport. This was my third time there, and it's been great every time. Small plates and light fare, but filling.

Wonderful and interesting food combined with good drink and great service. This is airport surprise at its finest, after your first visit here it will be on your radar for any pass throughs you have at MSP!

I'm a fan! I look forward to this place every time I fly through Minneapolis. Mostly excellent wines and good flight pairings.

They did a great job with this place. I wish the Surdyk's Cheese Shop in NE was this classy and well designed. This is my go-to place before a flight for the best deal on water in the airport (best tasting, best price, local), a breakfast scone before a morning flight, or a vegetarian sandwich to eat on the go (always a good selection of interesting combinations). I used to live in SF and thought they did a great job with the United terminal, but MSP Airport keeps getting better and better. Well done Surdyk's!

Very nice restaurant at the MSP airport. I have not seen such a speciality restaurant in many international airport. They wine selection was plentiful. I had the Smoked Salmon Salad, it was a job well-done. A great way to end the business week before heading back home.

wow what a discovery, I almost missed my "flight". What a great outlet for Surdyks, and how fricken handy. I had an outstanding as hell bloody mary, ( should of had wine), a lovely salad. And a small cheese plate. Great counter service, and why can't they launch this outside of the airport.?? Nice as hell wine selection ( was in mood for bloody!) Great Cheese choices. Sorry as a coffeesnob--zero stars. Preground Espresso in a paper cup by espresso machine ( sad should of been a grinder or superauto, or don't do espresso..) and water for french press coffee in an airpot(does not work). Surdyks in general is stellar in their field of fine spirits and should scratch doing coffee all together, or hook up with a local roaster that knows what they are doing and can help them. I am sure the water in the airpot was lukewarm and certainly not hot enough for french press. Sorry have to tell it like it is. No points off of review because rest of concept was five stars.

What a great place! First time in was a month ago due to a 4 hour delay. Had the tuna salad nicoise and a yogurt. What a life saver after being stranded in the airport for hours! Picked up my dinner for tonight on the way through this afternoon. Not what you expect in an airport.

If you have time before your flight, this is a great place to decompress and have a civilized bite to eat. I had the grilled cheese (somewhat pressed like a panini with tomato and caramelized onions). It came with a small cup of mustard based potato salad and a few gherkins. I also had a crisp glass of pouilly fuisse. The atmosphere is great and the whole place smelled like delicious bread. Service was also great. I will definitely be back next time I fly through MSP.

We have a winner! If you like gourmet charcuterie / salumi and good wine you will LOVE this place. It's little more than a deli, but the quality of food is phenomenal. Bring your wallet. It's not cheap, but I can say that I haven't ever had food in an airport as good as this. I might have to fly Delta/KLM/Northwest more just to go through this airport so that I can go to Surdyk's.

Just stopped there one time, and it could become my new favorite place at the airport. Great wine, craft beer and just enough food so as not to feel bloated on a flight. Check it out!

OK, 5 stars is a little much -- I've only been here twice, and both times just got sandwiches out of the cooler up front. But they were delicious sandwiches! and in the culinary wasteland of MSP! So grateful. Both times carried the sandwich on board & elicited the jealousy of all around me. I'll definitely try the sit-down options next time I'm through but for now, I'm just glad they're here.

What a nice treat at MSP! Nice pleasant atmosphere. Loved the wines - good pricing and tasty - the Spanish flight - mm mm The salumi platter was filling, but what won me over were the cheeses. The Manchego was good, but the French Epoisses was perfect - I mean ready to eat, ripe, tasty....The cheese selection is limited to nine kinds, but what they do have is top of the line.

Oh man, what a sight for sore eyes after a long day of typical fast food fare! This is an unexpectedly great little wine and cheese store tucked away in MSP's main terminal. I didn't do the wine "flight" (tasting), although that looked really good, but the food was a perfect antidote to fast food greasiness - sandwiches with upscale ingredients, salads, olives, cheese, etc. Will definitely come here again.

Smoked salmon salad was OK, Sauvignon Blanc wonderful, service slow and disorganized. Tab added up wrong in my favor. Don't take the booths inside unless you love the smell of paninis.

This place is great. I always passed this place up and did not even know it existed. It looks like a small bar from the outside, but they do have some seating inside and serve very fresh and excellent food. And the price is very reasonable! I got the smoked salmon and dill potatoe salad. It was awesome. I will definitly be visiting this place again anytime Im at MSP airport and have some time to grab a bite.

This should be a real restaurant out in the city. Awesome wine selection, great cheese, great chocolate, great food.. simply amazing. the poached egg over salad is my favorite and will keep me coming back for more.

This airport cafe is pretty cute, but is off to a rough start. When I stopped here last week before a flight, their front cooler was broken, so any sandwich or cold selections had to be made to order. No problem for me since I was there to pick up a pastry. After trying the heavenly cream filled brioche at Salty Tart recently, I was excited to find a chocolate filled brioche at Surdyk's. What a disaster! The flavor of the bread was decent, but I had a hard time finding the chocolate until I bit into one teensy chocolate square that was not melted in the least. Yuck. If I ever visit this place again, I'll just stick to the wine.

Ok...I was on my way to Knoxville from Seattle and had a 2.5 hour layover in Minneapolis. I stumbled upon Surdyk's Flights and the place looked like a nice place for a good sandwich and a glass of wine. I had the Flights' Ficelle sandwich which came with prosciutto americano, arugula, red onion, and sweet butter on ficelle bread...it was delicious. I opted for a Malbec wine from Chile to have with the sandwich and it was also very good. After my meal I still had a little over an hour before my flight so I ordered another glass of wine. Being from the Pacific Northwest and having visited Oregon's Willamette Valley twice, the host recommended I try the Witness Tree "Estate" Pinot Noir. Let me say the Witness Tree was as good as any wine I've had from Oregon with bountiful fruit aromas and slight hints of vanilla and spice...I was in heaven. Also, let it be known that the host was VERY generous pouring the wines as both my glasses were filled pretty much to the top...I was pleasantly surprised. So, why did I score them a 4 and not a 5? My bill for my lunch with two glasses of wine came out to $39.27...plus I left a $5 dollar tip for a total of $44.27. If I had stopped at just my sandwich ($10) and the first glass of Malbec ($10) I would have fared much cheaper. The Witness Tree "Estate" Pinot Noir cost $16 per glass!! I really didn't notice the $16 dollar charge till I was on the plane headed for Knoxville and pretty much just said "oh well...it was an enjoyable meal" and I felt pretty good after the two large glasses of wine I had drank. My issue was I thought the host should have told me up front prior to serving me the Witness Tree wine that it was $16 per glass. Anyway, I will stop and eat there again if on a layover in Minneapolis and would recommend Surdyk's Flights in Minneapolis Airport to anyone looking for a out-of-the-ordinary lunch and a nice glass of wine...just pay attention to the prices!

Let me start by saying I have been a huge fan and regular customer of Syrdyk's at Hennepin and University for 20 years. The airport location, however, was disappointing. The idea of being able to buy nice wine to take onboard is a good one, but the food and service is lacking. I purchased a salad with sliced chicken and water for take out. First thing when I opened my bag was to find that while there were large slices of chicken and fairly large pieces of lettuce in the salad, the woman who packed the bag included a fork, but no knife. So, no good way to eat the thing. After managing to cut some with my fork, a trick in the limited space of travel, I noticed a piece of chicken looked a bit bloody. Checked to see if it had been near a cut tomato or something that would cause the color, but no. Upon further investigation it was clear that this part of the chicken was well undercooked and of course had potentially contaminated the entire salad. I stopped eating it at that point and about an hour later, my stomach told be I had indeed consumed something from undercooked meat. Just what you need on a flight starting a trip. Wish I had gone anywhere else.

When a problem comes along (You must sip it!). My problem was that I had to walk away from security before I was detained because the TSAsshats took my brand new labeled and sealed bottle of lavender yoga mat spray I forgot in my personal item (but basically said it would have been OK to be 8 oz if it were lens cleaner or if I'd divided it up into unlabeled bottles of 3 oz or less. Pfttt!) and then they wanted me to acknowledge that I was "relinquishing", or whatever mumbo jumbo BS wordage they use, my ownership of it. To which I replied with "No, I'm not GIVING it to you! Call it what it is. You're TAKING it from me!" And I'm sure I mumbled some other extremely eloquent things before I realized I needed a drink. Lucky for me, Surdyk's Flights is right past the point of pointless acquisitions. My friend and I were able to grab a seat at the bar and I settled into my airport happy place with a Roast Turkey-Manchego sandwich, a glass of Nicolas Potel Pouilly Fuissé, and a small plate of prosciutto. Whether you're in Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, you can count on Surdyk's to be a slice of cheese or a cut of meat above the rest of the food court competition. Flights is fast, friendly and affordable, too! The bonus is that they are after all the X-ray machines, so you don't have to worry about their bottles being confiscated.

I get that this place is in a busy airport, but there are no excuses for rudeness. The waiter who, I'll admit seemed frantic, could not have been more unpleasant. I asked about gluten free and he said..we have rice crackers, that's all we will do. The menu looked delicious and food choices were what I was looking for. But I'll never know if it was worth the wait. I left after a second round of nastiness from the guy who was supposed to seat me. Wandered over to a Ike's, where they were much more pleasant and waited out my 4 hour layover, guess the folks at Ike's are aware of the term Minnesota nice.

This is for sure my new place to eat at MSP! The food was fresh, had a great variety of sandwiches and salads and is barely mroe expensive than eating at McDonalds! Eat here, you wont regret it!

Cool, fun little restaurant / store on the main concourse @ Minneapolis / St. Paul airport. They have a small worthy selection of wines, cheeses and meats as well as to-go snacks and sandwiches, drinks, etc. Meat and cheese plates looked tasty as well as their salads. If you have some time to spend while at MSP Airport stop in and check it out. It's tiny but the offerings aren't!

I rarely fly out after 9AM, so I've never stopped here. Usually I'm kitty corner in French Meadow, chowing down on a pastry and coffee, already looking forward to my nap on the plane. This time it was 5PM on a Friyay, so to the place with the wine I went! I got a wine flight because why not, and I was pleasantly surprised at how large the pours were. I got a pretzel with mustard to soak up some of the wine before making my way to my short flight with screaming babies. (There's always at least one, amirite? Weekend traveling, gross.) The pretzel was surprisingly good--warm, soft, and just the right size for one person. Good service, unobtrusive TVs, and a surprisingly calm space in the middle of the airport. Or maybe that last one is just the wine talking.

I had a ridiculously long layover at MSP. I'd seen Surdyk's Flights many, many times, but never realized it was a restaurant. Looks like since the last time I walked by they added seating out in the main Mall walkway. I was intrigued! For the first time I walked into Surdyk's and realized there were tables inside. I was lucky to find an empty booth. Power outlets to recharge my electronics were greatly appreciated. I started with a flight of Pinot Noir. They were all very good and it was nice to be able to compare them side by side. I ended up choosing a favorite and having a full glass to finished up. I also ordered the Smoked Salmon Salad. It was so delicious! Maybe it was because I was starving, but I don't think that was the only reason. The smoked salmon, peppered with capers, was soft and flavorful. Taking a bite of salmon with the greens and dill potato salad was a taste combination that really hit the spot. The greens were served without dressing, which I appreciated. And dressing wasn't needed when they were combined with the salmon. I love dill on salmon, so I started adding bites of potato salad with the salmon and greens and... well, I really enjoyed the salad. I absolutely would order it again when I have time to stop in and relax between flights. I've been to MSP more times than I'd like. Don't get me wrong, it's a great airport. It's just that I wish I wasn't traveling for work, but it's what I signed on for so for the time being this is where I literally land twice a week. I've eaten at most of the restaurants. Surdyk's tops them all. If you're here and you have time to eat, give Surdyk's a try!

Saw this place on Yelp on my layover at the Minneapolis airport during a business trip. I got a quick bite after seeing another patron grab 3 of the sandwiches I got. It was great and I got a cookie as well. Food: 3/5, delicious with great bread Service: 3/5, a more of a take out joint Ambience: 3/5, small place (nothing to note here) Price: 3/5, about $10-ish for a sandwich

By far the best grab-n-go place in MSP. Not only is it passable/acceptable, but good quality and tasty. Highly recommend the prosciutto/arugula/red onion/butter flute. Or perhaps two of them. If you have the time for them to make you a fresh sandwich, side salad, or tomato mozzarella salad, all the better. A decent wine selection at not-as-crazy-as-they-could-be prices. Except on Sunday, when you can't buy alcohol in Minnesota. (WTF?? Is this 1815?) Make sure you grab a dessert on the way out, they have great salty/sweet cookies!

I couldn't believe I was in an airport. While flying 18 hours and 2 layovers from DCA to HNL I was pretty grouchy about my pit stop in MSP. It was the highlight light of my travel day! Well, actually snagging an entire empty 3 seat row to myself on the leg from SEA to HNL was, but this was a close second! Thank you Yeeps for steering me here bc I probably would have passed it up. It's small, but really nice. I didn't snag a booth there was only 5 and they were full. I sat at the bar and it was kinda nice to watch the chefs in action with the open kitchen plan. I had a spicy Bloody Mary ($10) the salmon and lox bagel plate ($13) and they happily served it to me at 1pm, which was awesome since I skipped breakfast. Portions and flavor were great. They play old timey music and the severs has an old school cafeteria uniform. It was truly relaxing. I had a ham and cheese brioche to go and it was a bit dry and disappointing but everything else was great. This will be my "go-to" spot anytime I'm in MSP!

Oh now, this spot. Thissssss spot. It's no secret that I'm head over heels for the MPLS airport. I mean, who in their right mind wouldn't be? Great eating, shopping, free wi-fi, awesome fancy vending machines, nice folks, it's navigable... shut the front door. MPLS is easily my favorite airport in the continental US and then some. And one of the main reasons for my undying adoration of the MPLS airport is Surdyk's Flights. It's great food, awesome wine/booze, delightful snacks, and a place to chill between flights. Food is fresh, inventive, and the price points are reasonable. Menu items are expertly paired with lovely, boutique-y wines apropos of nature of the dish. It's chill. You can do some work at the counter, or vedge (?) out with a glass of Cab in a booth with your traveling companion. There's also this rad cold case full of awesome sandwiches, salads, etc., if you're in a hurry. Hey Surdyk's! Maybe come open a location at the General Mitchell? Please? I love you.

I've been here twice, and somehow both times I was watching a United States World Cup game. Why the heck do I keep scheduling my travel at the same time as major soccer events? Located right in the heart of Terminal 1 (Lindbergh), this is a classy wine bar that is equally convenient to just about any gate. As with any good airport bar/restaurant, they're really good about processing orders and getting you your check quickly if needed. The wine menu is extensive and features glasses that range from $8-$16. If you're not an avid wine drinker, the staff is knowledgeable and can help you find what you're looking for. The menu is also sorted by region or type. There are plenty of TVs, which is great if you're like me and are always here during soccer games. They have screens over the bar as well as a screen in each of the booths. For such a small space they have a crazy amount of screens. I've never ventured off of the appetizers/small plates portion of the menu, but they do offer larger options such as sandwiches and salads. The cheese board is awesome, albeit expensive for the quantity that you get. But seriously, this is a wine bar. Get over it.

We came over from our gate at 8:30 (they close at 9). Since there were no tables for 4 in the actual restaurant/shop, we went over to the seating just outside, where other patrons were also sitting, and took down chairs from on top of one of the tables to sit, as all but the ones currently being used by others were put up. I grabbed a couple menus from the guy working the register and then as we started to look at them, a different guy in a chef's coat came over and started snapping at us for taking down chairs when the kitchen was closing and how we should have obviously realized that area was closed because the chairs were up! He then went over to the "open" side and proceeded to take down chairs at one of those tables...I guess those chairs were just up for show? After his rudeness, we returned our menus and went to eat at Mimosa, where the service was excellent.

Had the tomato mozz sandwich - fabulous! I don't ever eat arugula - well I just did and it was a tasty addition to this sandwich. Got it to go and ate 40 mins later. Nice fresh ingredients and perfect bread! If only all airports had this place. Wow! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots of pre-made options as well if you don't have 5 mins for them to make for you.

Vacation - most say it officially starts right when the warm rays of tropical sunshine hit your skin in January, or when the colorful lei is placed around your neck. Some say it's the moment you get to throw all of your luggage and problems on the floor of your luxury hotel floor. But nay, friends, I say it officially starts the moment I begin shoveling prosciutto in my mouth at Surdyk's Flights. Whenever I fly out of MSP, I MUST get there early to enjoy some cured meats and interesting cheeses at Surdyk's. They always put together a plate that is flavorful and fun but not intimidating. The 3 cheese + 3 salumi plate, my favorite, always features perfectly paired cheeses and cured meats. It also includes both fruity and briny accompaniments - I love when I can pair their soft creamy blue cheese with sweet strawberries, or a fatty capicola with herb-marinated kalamata olives. And you best believe I am always throwing back some wine with my plate too. They have so many wine options, especially for an airport pitstop. I don't really know much about that fancy business, but the awesome servers do. Oh, and usually bread is just the vehicle for more desirable things I want to eat, but at Surdyk's, I adore the perfect crusty baguettes just as much as everything else on the plate. Crusty Baguettes. Sounds like a pop-punk girl band I should start. So understandably so, I get pretty cranky when I go to MSP and don't get to stop by Surdyk's Flights. Just recently, I told my boyfriend's father to take a hike because he couldn't drive me to the airport in time for me to get a cheese and salumi plate, and swiftly found another ride. It's just that good.

This spot is a great gem in the Minneapolis airport (perks of flying!). The consultant on the team and I split a charcuterie platter, which was rather delicious with mustard, pretzels, three types of charcuterie, three types of cheese, pecans, grapes, etc. Pretty standard but it was a great light meal before boarding our flight. The wines run about $9-12 a glass. I just liked how refined this meal was compared to other fast options in the airport.

Who knew airport food could be so memorable? Business trip = expense it! We didn't want to eat at your plain ole TGIF or Chick-fil-a, so we decided to grab a table at Surdyk's. The overall feel is very modern and chic-feeling, although I felt the TVs at every table were distracting. We went for a meat and cheese platter, and I ordered the salmon salad as my entree. The appetizer was beautifully arranged, and the journey of flavors and textures was well-curated. Whether you wanted salty, sweet, creamy, crunchy, stinky, juicy, it had it all. It was a tasty and reasonably priced platter to share. My salmon salad was also very generous in terms of portions. The greens were a little overdressed, but I couldn't get enough of the salmon! It was smoky, had just the right amount of salt, and wasn't dry at all. It paired very well with the various cheese and breads from our platter. Lucky MN, your airport food could probably survive as a restaurant in any major city! It's also a great place to wait out a few hours; just order a flight of wine, pull out a book, and you're set!

Before you board your flight, where you're likely to unfortunately sit next to a wailing baby, experience heart-stopping turbulence, and suffer from cramped leg space, do yourself a favor and visit Surdyk's Flights. Hours prior to flying out to Hawaii, my girlfriend and I began the morning with a stressful argument that made me consider not talking to her for the next ten hours or so. But we were hungry! So decided to eat breakfast at Surdyk's, and all was well in the world. After passing through security, look to the right to find Surdyk's. The space has plenty of two-seater booths on the edges and plenty of bar seating in the middle. There's a sizable menu of awesome spreads, sandwiches, salads, and wines, and everything is delicious. We decided to split a couple of things: *Scottish Smoked Salmon Bagel w/ cream cheese, tomato, red onion, and capers: With solid ingredients, meaty salmon, and an interesting hard cream cheese, this dish is great anywhere. Even outside of the airport. ($13) *Farmer's Breakfast Panini w/ scrambled eggs, smoked ham, collier's aged cheddar, red onion, and mornay sauce: This comforting savory breakfast snack hit the spot and helped me bite my lip from arguing with my girlfriend. ($8) *Service: After briefly mentioning that we planned on splitting our meal, our server went out of his way to divide everything up himself. Not to mention, he was super nice, and really enthusiastic (without being overly annoying). Hands down, the best option at the best airport in the U.S. My only regret is that I didn't drink any wine that morning.

I fly Southwest out of MSP and this is practically the only place to eat in Terminal 2. There aren't many options here, but Surdyk's is a good option. Their food is good, but can be pricey. I've usually fly out in the morning, so I just get their bagel. It's reasonably priced and it's a good quality bagel. Can't really go wrong, but it's good. I've seen people order things like their sandwiches and panini's, which look delicious, but I personally have yet to try. Next time I fly out during mid-day, I'll be sure to try it out! Solid food, fast and quick service. Great presentation.

I couldn't wait to come back to MSP just so I could have another meal at Surdyk's! The minute I got off the plane, before I went to the ladies room, before I bought a fresh cup of Joe, I stopped at Surdyk's to buy a bottle of wine to take back to my hotel. The chef helped me choose an excellent Shiraz which I have thoroughly enjoyed. Last month he suggested a Cabernet blend which was also fabulous. They take alot of pride in preparing their dishes. For breakfast one morning I had a bagel with scottish smoked salmon and cream cheese, tomato, red onion, and capers. For dinner I have had a charcuterie and cheese platter served with olives, pickles, fruit, nuts, mustard and bread. One other time I enjoyed a pot of chicken liver mousse with cognac. The possibilities are endless! I have paired all these meals with wine flights which have opened my taste buds to interesting and varied flavor profiles. Prices are fair and service is great!

Yup, 5 stars for a airport restaurant and wine bar. This place was outstanding! Came back on my return trip and was not disappointed. The food, the service- everything was 5 star. Prices are reasonable too! Will return for sure!

Unfortunately you got docked 2 stars for a fundamental component. Red wine sits out atop the counter backing up to the area where the coolers release heat. For any restaurant this is a mistake. For a wine focused shop it's a fail. Reds should ultimately served at 56-60. Not room temperature with is near 70 and who knows by the heat from the coolers. It makes all reds flabby and lost fruit. You guys should know that. When I told my server my wine was too warm he said, "sorry about that". Great resolution. No not really. Sandwich was good though.

I'm a very frequent flyer and this little cafe has quickly become my favorite little spot in all of America's airports. The menu is lighter fare (apps, salads, sandwiches, paninis, desserts and lots of wine), but what they do they do very well!

I stumbled upon this find at the Minneapolis Airport. I was drawn in by the swanky wine bar style decor and stayed for the menu offerings, open booth that was calling my name and the swanky tunes! I ordered the Scottish smoked salmon with capers, bagel, arugula and tomato slices. It was divine! The service was great and timely! I noticed their fresh bread delivery at 9:30....what...stop! They also had a great wine selection, fresh sliced cold cuts, parties, cold salads...all the good stuff and plenty of quick grabs to catch a plane! I felt like I was in France but I've never been! Too bad I had to then run my butt off to catch my next plane but it was totally worth the visit! Loved It!

I should have written this review YEARS ago! I purposely go to MSP early specifically to dine here and I'm never disappointed! Even if it's busy, totally ask a stranger to share a table because honestly, we're all friends here, and what better place to be a nice, happy, friendly person than at an airport? (More importantly, the MSP Airport?) The flights are a great way to sample the wine - I'm a huge fan of the Tempranillo - and the food is fantastic! Love the soba noodles, paninis and the salumi plate!! There's a great selection of to-go items too! (Yes, you can be prepared to spend extra here but the quality beats all else...*cough* Taco Bell...*cough*) Plenty of outlets to charge devices and tvs everywhere! There's actually a lot of seating so just be patient if you want to enjoy some time. They are so friendly and always ask when your flight is, so you're not left hanging! And of course, a bit-o-honey in your passport bill is a cute way to wish you safe travels!

Had the Minneapple Panini & Rose wine flight and enjoyed both. Have to agree w/ all those reviewers that came before me who were pleasantly surprised by great food in an airport! Top off a good meal w/ being able to buy wine to go & it should have been a 5 star experience. I gave them 4 stars because one of the servers (not mine) was in a rush to close and told me they were doing last call at 8:30 even though they close at 9. All seats were taken at that point but she turned off the good tunes & tv's & made it clear we should all move on.

There are few times in life where I've been able to say, "I'm looking forward to eating at the airport." Thanks to Surdyks Flights that's becoming more and more common. Whether grabbing hot dishes with table service or a salad (the Tortilla Espanola!) and delicious rustic sandwich when I'm running from gate to gate, Surdyks in the MSP airport always has something to make my time in the airport a little more enjoyable.

Great European-style food. Prosciutto salad with arugula was great (if a little heavy on the prosciutto, if you can believe that). Chicken liver pâté was fantastic. Three different wines were all good and interesting. Service couldn't have been better. Unassuming location belies beauty of food. Bonus: Power outlets at tables.

I actually schedule trips based on a visit to sturdyk's in terminal 2. (Oftentimes the SWA concourses have cheesy chain outlets). I've eaten most of the breakfast menu. Prepared in front of you by skilled foodies. Everything is presented well on china. Coffee is great. You can't be in a huge hurry but you will also forget you are in an airport. I even broke an ironclad rule to never buy a prepared sandwich. The sturdyk sandwiches are superb. Great wine and beer selection. Nice vibe. Unhurried and a great experience. I am getting hungry while writing this review.

After you go through security, head straight to the mall area where you will find Surdyk's Flights. It is where you will find an excellent place to relax and enjoy a flight of wine, meat, and cheese and so much more before your departure. (well as much as you can relax before your flight). SF is right in the middle of the mall, trust me it's still comfortable. It is bright and clean. There are lots of plugs to charge up your electronics while you sip your wine. The service is excellent and fast! If you need to eat and run stop inside the store. The wine selection rocks too! MSP is a hidden secret to fly in and out of! You will not be bored with crappy food here!

I really like this place. It has made my trip to the airport quite happy The service is excellent. As soon as I walked in, with only about thirty minutes to spare before boarding time, I was handed a menu and assisted with choosing something awesome and quick. I was told by the super nice waiter that I should NOT get the panini if I was in a bit of a hurry. I ordered the Smoked Salmon salad which I have been informed will take twelve minutes. If you like sipping wine and are an "app" person like me- cheeses, meats, salad, etc., stop in here!

The only place for wine at MSP.... Unless you like Sutter Home single servings. In which case you should quit drinking wine.

Really great spot. I got stuck on a 5 hour layover because of a delay, and spent as much of it here as I could. Great wine and great food.

LOVE this place! Oasis in the middle of a busy airport. Hate to share. It's the best kept secret in MSP. Jazz, organic, fresh, smells and tastes AMAZING.

  • Rachel C.

You can't go wrong! Short on time? Grab something ready-made. A little more time? Order to go to - fresh sandwich or Panini. Have a long layover? Grab a seat have some wine and a cheese platter.

Great music, great salmon salad, good service, decent espresso. It's a great little place for couples and small groups although there is seating for larger groups outside the restaurant. The wine selection looks good impressive to say the least.

What a wonderful experience. It started my trip off right. A made to order sandwich and larger glass if wine, for no more than a prefab sandwich and cheep glass. I will stop here and make this my new ritual before and after flights into MSP. Right at the mall section of the airport. Easy, good and reasonable. The trifecta.

Oh, Surdyk's. You had me at wine flight. But pass me a cheese plate and a soft pretzel because I'm staying for a while. Surdyk's Flights is the single most important stop you can make before boarding that plane. What better way to brace yourself before facing the screaming toddlers, guy who hasn't showered in a week, and 45 minute flight delay while stuck on the tarmac. Six hours on a plane? That's a long time to sit and anxiously await an end to the suffering. Better stop at Surdyk's first. With that in mind, I purposely arrived at the airport a few hours before my flight so I could chill at Surdyk's first. Yep, it's definitely worth spending additional time at the airport to come here. No worries if you have a morning flight because they open as early as 8am most days. They even serve wine and cheese plates during breakfast hours if you're looking for something more than the yummy breakfast fare. The food here is delicious and it will be my choice over the airport chain restaurants any day. Just check out the photos posted by Yelpers and you'll get a sense of what you have to look forward to. In addition to the lovely cheese and other food options, Surdyk's offers a large variety of wines to please every taste. If you like to try different wines, ask the bartender to recommend a wine flight. Then just sip and nosh while you read your Kindle book. Just the kind of relaxation you need before that flight.

The food is incredible and I try to stop here whenever I'm flying in or out of MSP. The marinated chèvre is out of this world. I've always found the service, however, to be apathetic and average. Friday was just unacceptable. In a 15 minute timeframe while I was eating my food, I watched a male waiter serving the seats outside in the mall area literally run off three different tables with his rude demeanor. First, a couple started to sit at a table and he yells "HEY! don't sit down yet I haven't seated you!" (There are signs that say "seat yourself.) "Offended, they leave. Then a man sits at the center bar area and the waiter says "sir, I'm moving you over here so I can seat this party of three here." Offended, he leaves. Then the party of three sits down (next to me) and the wife is embarrassed and has to explain to her son why the server was so rude. Then when they try to order, same server manhandles them in such a rude manner the husband says "hey are you ok because you seem upset." Server walks off and doesn't return. They eventually get up and leave.

I was starting to think the only airport with good food was Phoenix Sky Harbor (ha!), but MSP proved to have some gems themselves. Like many others have said, Surdyk's Flights is like a sigh of relief in a see of fast food and unappetizing remade dishes. This place has many menu items all made with tasty meats, cheeses, and fresh fruit/veg. I had the Mineapple sandwich with turkey, brie, and apple.... it was melty and flavorful. It came with a tasty beet salad. Additionally, this place had local beers on tap (and for less money than most of the other food outlets in this airport).... I really can't complain. I would definitely stop here again the next time I'm in MSP.

The BEST decision I could have made while waiting for my flight. $13 for THREE generous glasses of delicious reislings/moscato and the service, while reasonably busy, was very attentive and knowledgeable. Will DEFINITELY be returning! Thanks for a great experience!

Had the Roast Turkey Manchego sandwhich. It was amazing, the pear marmalade pairs perfectly with the turkey and Manchego. Could have enjoyed a water refill but the sandwhich itself gets 5 stars

Love this place. Great wine. Great food, in the airport. Awesome meat slicer. Nice people. On the higher price side but it's the airport so I thinks it's cheap for what your getting.

I really wish I had come to this place sooner. All those trips through the MSP airport wasted eating at other substandard places. First I had the caprese salad. It was really nice. The balsamic vinegar was like chocolate. I then had the three cheese and three salami plate. The cheeses were wonderful. Beware the mustard - it carries an eye watering bite! It comes with nuts, grapes, olives. The salamis were also nice. As were the breads. It won't recommend any specific wines as I like reds from specific regions. They carry a really good selection so you won't go thirsty!

I end up here every time I have some time to kill at the airport. Great wine collection and good food. I like sitting at the bar and just watching them prepare the food. The service is quick and like the ambience too. Doesn't feel like you are sitting at the airport. My only beef with this place is that they don't have outlets at the bar.

    (4)
  • Giovanni S.

Excellent place for a quick bite (and a glass or two of wine). It's basically cold cuts, sandwiches and salads so it's perfect if you're looking for something not too heavy. The wine selection here is really good. They have a good variety. I love the fact that the breads and a majority of their cold cuts are local. I had the prosciutto and pecorino Romano sandwich and it was amazing. The prosciutto tasted different than italian prosciutto, but in a good and distinct way. The prosciutto (made in Iowa) was less salty and fatty which is good. This is a must stop if you wanna pick up a bite, a bottle, or some local cold cuts.

This is the best airport cafe in America. It would be great in any downtown as well. It just happens to be at the main MSP terminal. It's a shangri la of great, fresh, gourmet deli fair. Plus, to-go options make any coach flight a first class experience. Great half-bottles of wine with screw caps, delicious sandwiches and fresh bakery goods. All ready to ride with you. One comment though. Hats women are required to wear are silly and ridiculous. Unless you like bellman uniforms from the 50's. Anyway, don't judge. Just enjoy. It's spectacular.

Looking for lunch in MSP and this showed up highly regarded in Yelp. A small Hidden a couple of doors down from the food court, you are greeted with a Winestore tasting room look and feel on entering the Surdyk's. Don't let the cooler and counter fool you, they have a full service kitchen and wine bar. Having well organized and interesting flights and a simple yet tempting menu, Surdyk's has lots of opportunity to enjoy a drink or meal in the airport. The smoked salmon salad is worth a try, with a generous portion of salmon, a well dressed salad that complements the fish well and a tasty herbed potato salad on the side. Also had a Brioche with butter and the bake goods keep up with the quality of the food from the kitchen.

Busy little wine bar cum salumeria; it reminds me of a place I haunted in Auckland while staying there. Relatively broad selection of wines by the glass, great selection of cured meats and cheeses & a few pastries to satisfy the sweet tooth in just about anybody. Pros: easy to find in the terminal; numerous glass pours & flights; creative menu; helpful staff Cons: glass prices are a bit spendy ($13/glass for a retail $20 bottle); "mall" seating arrangement is confusing; no bottle sales on Sunday

So looking back on my review here, I see that it's been two whole years since I've flown on Surdyk's. That's two years too many! While some things have changed (no more booths, no more frisee salad with poached egg), what hasn't changed is QUALITY food, and FRIENDLY service. Want to try the soup of the day? Sure, no problem. Want a super delicious sandwich made of the highest quality ingredients? Sure...just have to decide whether it involves prosciutto or salami? Want to try three different wines? Sure, just decide whether they are going to be white or red, or what kind of white or red? And even if you just want a nice homemade pretzel with homemade mustard for a couple bucks...well, they've got that too, and it will be served with a smile. This might be a Southwest terminal that's not the newest and best, but Surdyk's Flights makes this terminal seem new and fresh.

Was shocked by the quality of this little restaurant in the middle of the airport! I mostly came for the wine and had a great flight of 3 sparkling wines. Service was fairly prompt. For me traveling, this place had one of my essentials (besides for wine!), lots of easily accessible electrical outlets. Definitely would go back.

Same review as for the Surdyk's Flights in Humphrey Terminal. Love, love, love having Surdyk's Flights; I travel to the Cities frequently to see family and friends, and now I always go to Surdyk's Flights. The original Surdyk's is an excellent liquor store, and has regular wine sales that are great. Surdyk's Flights is a cafe, and there's one in each terminal (Lindbergh and Humphrey), which is great (there isn't and has never been much in Humphrey). An espresso (for example) here is really not more expensive than at any other coffee place in the airport (assuming you would tip at both), but at Surdyk's Flights you can sit down, drink from real cups, and eat from real plates like a civilized person. Obviously not ideal if you're in a rush, but if you're on a layover or you make it through security early, it's a great option. I have always sat at the bar and have never had to wait for a seat or very long to order and receive food; service is better than I expect at an airport, but could be a bit nicer (the waiters seem harried and it seems like the restaurant has too few of them). I generally get something like a sandwich; the original Surdyk's has a deli attached with a great sliced meat and cheese selection, which they've copied here. Fruit and vegetables are fresh and high-quality. I am always tempted by their wine flights (they even have a sparkling wine flight, which in my experience is not too common anywhere), but I follow the general advice of not mixing alcohol with air travel; I can recommend them on the basis of my experience with their store. I can't recommend the desserts only because I've never gotten one.

As soon as check-in is complete I determinedly make a beeline for this place, and won't let anyone or anything stand in the way. The last time I did this, trying to shut off a part of my brain that was looking at the clock, I arrived at the gate barely in time to make my flight. Surdyk's Flights makes the airport bearable, delays tolerable - it's the reason I look forward to flying out of MSP.

I cannot tell you how serendipitous this place was for me. I was stranded at MSP for a day and found this, truly a slice of heaven on Earth. Service? Best I have ever had. Food? Best I have ever had. Everything was exceptional about my experience. Had the Salmon Breakfast Sandwich. Ended up reaching out to them via Twitter to advertise my awesome experience. Please go if you can!!!! You will NOT be disappointed. Seating is a little cramped for more than 2 people at each spot, but they have a bar area where a larger group can sit. The Mimosas were excellent, wanted to buy a bottle of wine to go , but it was Sunday and and I wasn't able to. I hope everyone checks this place out!!! I have an absolute obsession with MSP because of Surdyk's Flights.

I was having a crappy day. After two flights with kicking children seated behind me and crying babies both in front and behind me, I learned that I had missed the last plane to my final destination. I had been running and stessing (and sweating). Surdyk's was the high point of my day. I was in such a hurry to order a beer, that I neglected to read the menu closely enough. As a result, I failed to notice that I was ordering a 22 ounce beer! When it came out, I did a double take, then decided it was the right size for my day. It was a locally made, Belgian pale ale. It was tasty! I ordered the soba noodle salad for $12. It was fresh and amazing, filled with fresh veggies and served with a light tamari-sesame dressing. So good! I was really impressed and felt that the quality of the food and quaint environment was worth the cost of the meal. I will make a point to stop here whenever I'm at MSP.

Definitely my FAVORITE spot at the airport, especially since I'm here weekly. The sandwiches are great, I always order the salami with roasted red peppers and mozzarella. They have a wonderful wine selection and the other items you can grab to go like cheese, baked goods and what not are just as awesome. The brownies are really good and so is the chocolate brioche. It's definitely a good spot to watch sports as well. The icing on the cake for this spot is the wait staff. THEY ARE ALL SUPER NICE! Definitely a place I HIGHLY recommend, especially when you need a wine fix which is all the time for me. If you've got some time to kill, might as well spend it happily drinking good drinks and eating great food.

Let me start out by saying I hate leaving Surdyk's a three star review. I've been stopping by for years, and I've always enjoyed the friendly service, the impeccable wine selection, and wonderful cheeses. I day dream about this place. I fly through MSP because I know I may have a chance to go there. I'm leaving three stars due to the extremely poor service I received. In fact, it's the worst I've had in over a decade. I had the misfortune of sitting in Hillary H's section at the bar. I was not greeted with a "Hi" or "Hello" or "How are you?" I instead got, after a few minutes of silence, "Have you decided yet?" I ordered my usual three cheese plate, and a nice Montepulciano. Once I received the cheese plate, I got no explanation of cheeses. I'm savvy, but it's thoughtful for a server to do such things. Hilary then disappeared for 15 or so minutes, my wine glass sat empty for almost ten minutes until I asked a bar back to accommodate me. She finally came back, chewing on food I will add, and while I still had half a glass, she was pressuring me to choose another, as I was perusing the menu. It was 8:20pm, I inquired about the closing time, and she confirmed I had about 30 minutes left. I said I felt like I was being rushed, because I was. I'm not telling anyone to not go to Surdyk's, because this place is the most awesome place in MSP. Just expect, if you're sitting in Hilary's section, to get very brisk, inattentive, unfriendly and rushed service.

FIVE STARS..gotta do it! Smoked Salmon salad (& VG potato salad) deserves it. As does service...thank you for xtra bread request! As does Good vino to ease travel woes, as does oldies music,as does a oldie candie treat with the bill. grab . if you can can grab Limited room to sit at counter (charging plugs under counter) or extra seating in Mall space. Please skip the chain restaurant & fries...have good spirits & good food here! My only road warrior complaint...NEED more of same at other airports I fly!

The food is very good considering that the establishment is in an airport. My tuna melt was delicious. They also have an excellent selection of wines and cheeses. Unfortunately, the server was not friendly at all.

Pretty decent for airport food. Really good salad. Good Sandwich. That Salmon was waaayyyyyy over cooked. They might want to leave that one off the menu. Other than that.. I'll be back my next layover in minneapolis

I had about an hour before my flight and decided to grab a good breakfast, well, that is an understatement - I sat down and ordered their Poached Eggs - one word - UH-MAZING!!!! Definitely the best breakfast, or meal for that matter, I have ever eaten at an airport and I would definitely put it in my top 5 period! I can't wait to visit MSP again!

This is clearly the place to get food at the MSP airport. The prices aren't bad -- roughly what you might pay elsewhere in the mall -- and the food is quite good. Surdyk's sandwiches aren't on the level of Rick Bayless' place in O'Hare, but this is some of the best airport food that you'll find anywhere. I recommend the prosciutto ficelle.

    (4)
  • H H.

Easily the best food at MSP. The only negative is that it's a little expensive, but the food makes up for it. I don't how long it will last but they also sell the cheapest bottles of water I've see at any large airport. If you're like me and always buy a bottle of water after you clear security, and hate getting ripped off, this is the place to go. If you're in a rush, I'd suggest getting the chicken banh mi sandwich. Very very good.

  • Edward W.

4.25 stars. Yes, it's that good. This place is second only to ATL's One Flew South as a destination restaurant in an airport. Exceptional cheeses, salumi, salads, panini, wine and spirits. A welcome oasis at MSP.

  • Alexander V.

I've been a fan of this place for many years. I really enjoy all of their offerings. My favorite thing about this place back in the day was both how cheap their Syrdyk's brand alcohol was, and its quality. Syrdyk's brand vodka can't be beat at its price. The cheese and food selections are nice and bring an aura of refinement to the TC area. Much overdue. Definitely go here if you like cheap quality alcohol. Wine selection is excellent, and the staff is very helpful.

I leave my office early. I arrive at MSP Airport early just to bolt over here. Every. Single. Time. Am I nervous about catching my flight? No. I'm nervous that I won't have enough time to partake of my favorite airport restaurant in the US, Surdyk's. The place is a serious delight: very good to excellent wines out the wazoo, for both consumption and takeaway, and beautifully prepared fresh-made food that is healthy, creative, and tasty. In a freaking airport for God's sake. A mind-bender, it 'tis. Reminiscent of a European bistro or cafe, cozy Euro feel would be the best way to describe this place. You watch your meal being made as you sit at the bar if you're lucky enough to grab one of the bar seats (also has additional comfortable seating just outside the storefront), and dig into some unexpectedly excellent fresh food. Being that you're in the airport (and inside security) already, you can grab that bottle of vino you've been eying and take it on the plane. Great service, and from what I've seen while sitting at the bar, they make an outstanding cocktail as well. They use jiggers for all their unique cocktail concoctions and pour very carefully. In business since 1934 in Minneapolis and I understand why. This is one cool place and the staff are all pretty hip too. 5 solid stars.

Sorry to say but I have been here twice now and the panini and other sandwiches are just meh.. Once bitten but twice shy and thrice I am the fool. I love the beets on the side and the olives and pickles but big flavors are lacking here. It is busy and a lot of staff but that does inspire me to try you again. Good music and the tv's booth side are nice but you can do better.

Best food I've ever had in an airport! I would buy this food even if I weren't in an airport! I ordered a proccuito sandwich to go (so I wouldn't miss my flight) and watched them slice the proccuito in front of me. Was pleasantly surprised by the side salad that came with it-- I chose the beet salad and it was delicious and fresh (two words I never say in an airport). The sandwich was big and absolutely fantastic! Granted it was pricey for a sandwich but all airport food is... I'd much rather pay for something yummy! Thank you!

I really wanted to like Surdyk's Flights. I really did. Upon researching the restaurants here at the Minneapolis airport on a layover, this consistently came up as the top restaurant. I guess I came in with too high expectations. Or maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. On walking in, I sat down at a bar stool next to the bakery items. They looked delicious. The wines and beers selection looked pretty outstanding for an airport restaurant. Even cooler was that the booths behind me each had a private TV and outlets for travelers. Definitely a nice touch. Too bad my meal was awful. The presentation of my Prosciutto Salad was great, with the meat layered on the bottom and the greens, onions and grated cheese on top. Had I gone off of presentation alone, I would have given Surdyk's a much higher rating. But when I bit into the food, I was overwhelmed with salt and acidity. It was a bad combination of a very acidic and salty dressing, the salt in the prosciutto and then the additional salt hand-sprinkled on top. It was so overpowering, that the salad was practically inedible. I pushed the greens to the side and ate the prosciutto. I paid my bill and left. The place really touts itself as a high-end wine bar, meant for pairing with different small plates and sandwiches. Again, I must have chosen a bad dish because the rest of the reviews otherwise tell me that this is a great place. If I had to do it over again, I would have tried a sandwich. Or a liquid diet.

I travel to Minneapolis a lot for work and every time I'm in town I have to stop at Surdyk's in the airport. I always get the same thing, the Minneapple because it's amazing!

I've always been a fan of Surdyks in Minneapolis and am so glad I finally got to try the airport location. Per other's suggestions I got the smoked salmon salad with their suggested red pairing and it was amazeballs! Huge portions and the wine paired very nicely with the salad. Prices were decent, definitely I would recommend if you're looking for something different from the normal airport cuisines.

What a great place, not at all your usual airport restaurant! They serve fresh, inventive small bites as well as sandwiches and salads. Extensive wine list at reasonable prices. The service was friendly but a bit slow when I visited, which can be a problem at an airport! Make sure that you have plenty of time if you plan to stop in before a flight.

Surdyk's Flights makes me oh so happy. I'm a pretty easy traveller. I find turbulance exciting, am used to being delayed and don't even mind being seated next to the chatty Cathy on a flight*. Everytime I fly out of MSP though, I feign pre-flight jitters and convince myself that I need to stop into Surdyk's for a glass of wine before boarding. Their wine line is fantastic and their flights are a great deal. I have loved their food, desserts and snacks and grabbing something here is INFINITELY better than whatever junk your airline has available for you mid-flight. Your bill is brought to you in a passport case, which is the mose adorable thing EVER. The last time I was there they had Earl Grey tea-infused vodka which I have been obsessed with ever since. Normally I would appreciate their laid-back approach to service, but it's an airport so could we please move things a long a *titch* faster? This place is exceptional all around, though. Treat yourself the next time you're in the airport; I will guarantee that it will set you off on the absolute right note. *Exception being seating in the middle seat. NOTHING is worse.

Face it, airports suck. Airport food usually sucks worse, because you pay too much for very lousy offerings. So an opportunity to sit in a cute little relaxing wine bar, sample from fabulous flights of wine (great beer list also) and have some top notch snacks prepared in front of you is simply AWESOME. I would have been on the 4 or 5 star hump if this were a stand alone joint - but I got tremendous service as well. Did I mention it was in the AIRPORT? 5 stars, baby! Also, I did pick up a bottle of wine to go and didn't feel that it was grossly marked up from that of any other wine store, as is the practice so much for the 'captive audience market' of airports. Wish these guys were in all the airports I travel to.

A must stop for all travelers. You can take it to go or eat in. Robust menu with many options. Prices are reasonable. Not kid friendly. Great wine selection. Order a "flight" to sample up to 3 grouped wines. Wait staff was quick. Very willing to offer suggestions. They seemed very sincere and helpful. I would recommend to any traveler looking for something more than just airport food.

Yes, HIGH quality food in a airport!!!! I spent 7 hours at the bar - wine, cheese plate. All very good. Gotta try the poached eggs were amazing.

Each and every time here I am completely and consistently satisfied. The service, food, and wine are top notch. The value for an airport location is appropriate. Can't go wrong with the cheese and meat plate with a really nice glass of Pinot Noir.

Trying to find healthy, good food in an airport is practically impossible these days. This place is an excellent choice if you are looking for something really tasty and healthy at MSP. All fresh ingredients, all prepared to order. I got a smoked salmon salad that was great for about $13. This place will be a regular stop for me when connecting through MSP in the future.

The Chiefs and bartenders know what's up! I got the Minneapple ($10) a panini with brie, turkey, Apple, onions and it was the best panini. I love my choices of options but I may just get the same thing WHEN I come back. Not if, it's when. Great service and you can get in and out fast if you like, or get a glass of wine and sip sip. The only part that will slow you down is savoring each bite!

It doesn't get better than this - a must for any traveler @MSP! Hands down Surdyk's Flights is the best restaurant/bar I've been do at any airport in the world. Fresh food, fab service, ultra-pleasant atmosphere for breakfast, lunch, snack-time and dinner. Surdyk's is my go-to for a yummy grab-and-go food before I hit a long flight. The skinny baguette with freshly sliced prosciutto hits the spot or the heirloom tomato and mozzarella sandwich is a nice, light meal. If you got a bit more time, a layover or a dreaded delay, make it more pleasant by enjoying one of the comfy booths with personal TVs. The hot paninis or fresh salads are always made to order. And the bacon-n-eggs panini is to die for during breakfast. Cheese and meat plates make a nice sharing option if you're dining with a companion. And did I mentioned they've got an outstanding selection of wine? After all, that's what Surdyk's is known for. All menu items have suggested wine parings, but you can also get your vino on enjoying one of the many wine flight options. Don't like wine, don't worry they have cocktails and beer, too! My only question - when will you be opening more?! How about one in Uptown, please?! :D

  • Kathleen K.

What a nice place for an airport! If I weren't here at 10:30 in the morning, I'd be able to tell you about there wine selection. Alas, it was too early for that so I enjoyed the food instead I got the Minniapple pannini which had apples, brie, and turkey on it. It came with a side salad (choice of beet, potato or carrot) and I chose beet. Both were delicious and served on a real plate (the true test of airport food quality). Sevice was nice and prompt (important for the airport!) and they even gave me a little candy with the bill. I'd definitely be back next time I'm flying through

I intentionally route my flights through Minneapolis JUST so I can stop by and grab one of their sandwiches. 'Nuff said.

  • Tiffany N.

Kombucha! Fruit salads! Delicious brioche! Wine in a split-sized bottle with a plastic wine "glass" for plane drinking! Cheese plates! Le sigh. Why can't we have this type of place at DIA? I would almost be willing to have a layover in this airport *just* to be able to eat at Surdyk's. It's that awesome.

    (5)
  • Lori C.

Had the big mouth red flight today and salmon salad. To complete the meal a chocolate brioche. Very tasty. Love the electrical bar at my seat to charge my phone as I unwind before my flight! Excellent service again from Derek.

In the abyss that is the modern aviation system, Surdyks is a haven. I started coming here because it's one of the few unique options at MSP, and then I slowly started to realize that even if I weren't held captive I would come here on a regular basis. Great wine and food for a reasonable price, and more than anything I love the service - the staff is consistently one of the best I've encountered. There's no point going anywhere else when at MSP.

  • P J.

This is the only airport restaurant that I will change my connecting flight just to eat at, truly. The food is great, fresh ingredients, great bread and a good wine selection. Importantly for an airport restaurant, they have plenty of plugs so you can work on your computer and wide aisles so that your bags aren't in the way. I have found the service to be good but not great, but nothing that would take them down from 5 stars. If you want to do it right, make sure that you have at least 45 minutes to an hour to enjoy. Of course, you can always take something to go, but it isn't the same.

  • Ahmad R.

I had very good food here, albeit a bit of a hurried customer service experience. But the options and quality of my mini apple panini will keep me returning. And the bakery items looked outstanding.

Don't come here came here on Fourth of July and they informed is at 5 pm that they were closed because they are slow ... Listen you are at the airport and we have no options this is terrible customer service and it's a shame as we were looking forward to coming here and spending money .....

I'm never eating anywhere in the airport again! I business travel quite a bit, and have pretty much tried all the restaurants/shops/fast food in the MSP airport. I love French Meadow for a healthy option when business traveling, but recently discovered Surdyk's Flights. I just wanted a fast, on-the-go, sandwich. I wasn't expecting much, as I'm a foodie and don't love my food in Saran-Wrap. Boy, was I wrong. I picked up a simple proscuitto/arugula roll, and it was blissful. Delicious. I wish I bought two. Two thumbs up for on the go food.

  • Hector M.

What's better than a flight before a flight? With 3 hours before my flight, I went with their South American Flight of Wine (I was in the mood for Malbec). They had a ton of flight options for every wine palette: Bold Whites, Robust Reds, Spanish, Italian, Pinot Noirs, Bordeaux, and "Tiny Bubbles". My only mistake was I went with their Ultimate Cheese Panini and I should have gone with a meat and cheese plate (just look at the pics - I almost ordered one half way into my panini). Great food, awesome service, there were electric chargers next to most tables, and did I mention that wine flights are priced between $10-$24?

    (4)
  • Mr B.

Wow, can't beat this for an airport wine bar. Great snacks for the flight too! It offers a picnic at 40,000 ft so who can beat that?

  • Amy M.

Holy moly! Finally a sandwich that I can buy at the airport and be ecstatic about. My fresh Italian sandwich on a baguette was a festival of flavors! It had fresh mozzarella, sopressata salami, roasted red peppers, onions, spinach, arugula, mayonnaise, garlic, salt, pepper and lemon juice! Everything married well together! The concoction was ingenious, and I would hope other sandwiches sold at the airports would follow. I've had many stop overs in Minneapolis, and I can't believe I overlooked this delightful establishment. Thank u Surdkys flights!

  • Sam Z.

Five star review taking in to account it is in an airport. From a service perspective all you look for in an airport is friendly, quick and clean service. Check on all fronts. The menu is small enough to get through quickly, different enough to be considered gourmet and unique enough to intrigue. Food was prepared in front of you, fresh and had a gourmet deli feel. And it was good, real good for an airport! I had the turkey and manchego on ciabatta sandwich. The best sandwich I ever had in an airport. Fresh crusty bread, cut in front of you cheese and turkey and a gourmet condiment. Served with a side of greens with drizzled balsamic. Can't ask for more. $16 bucks with tip and a tea. If it was evening I would have had some wine. Looked like they had some good selections. Go and support please. We need more places like this for business road warriors!

  • Pam R.

Excellent find here in the airport. Minneapple panini was fabulous, and only $10. Nice wine selection, a bit pricy but it is an airport. I had taken a bump so had plenty of time between flights, didn't feel rushed one bit.

I typically eat before heading to the airport since the options tend to be limited unless you're a fan of Mickey D's or Panda Express. *shudder* However, every so often I discover a restaurant that would taste good even outside of an airport. Such was the case with Surdky's during my last visit to Minneapolis. I made myself at home with my laptop at their bar and ordered the homemade pretzels to start. I had my choice of dip and opted for the mustard sauce over the beet horseradish cream cheese. The pretzel was quite good and definitely worth stopping here for a pretzel snack even if you don't happen to be flying during a typical meal time. I was there during dinner time so I followed my pretzel up with a soba noodle salad. It was good, although perhaps a bit too mushroomy for me since the baby in my stomach isn't the biggest fan of them right now. I left full and even hopeful that I'd soon have another work trip that would take me back to the Minneapolis Airport. Now that's how you know you enjoyed a good meal.

  • Jim R.

Why have I waited so long to try this fabulous gem? So much higher quality then the typical airport fare in a comfy but small wine bar. A great selection of small plates and a bunch of wines by the glass. You can even buy wine to bring along for your trip. Be sure to check it out for lunch, dinner or a snack - preferably when you aren't heading to a meeting.

Such a great go-to for longer layovers. Really good food, coffee, and breakfast! Love the layout too...you can usually find a table in the media section if the hallway is large enough. I had the prosciutto salad and eggs benedict...it was all very delicious! Good coffee, and wine even if that's what you're looking for. I'll definitely come back if I see this in an airport.

  • Annie D.

As I've mentioned in my prior review, this place is winning in every way. I'm usually running late so my go-to is a skinny baguette sandwich with prosciutto (easily eaten on the plane without embarrassing myself with a mess), so it's a serious treat for me when I'm able to make it early enough for lunch. And one time I made it for breakfast AND lunch... it made my delayed flight that much more tolerable. The menu is fresh and sophisticated, with wine pairings listed for each item (I love this!). Sandwiches, salads, cheese plates... there's no going wrong here. Also, mornings. I recommend the prosciutto, spinach, poached egg thing with salsa. There is SO much meat on it and it's so delicious. I sat in a back booth once and the atmosphere almost made me feel like I had left the airport, aside from the kitschy server outfits and passport covers that they use to deliver the bill. Another plus? They had a cooking show on the personal booth TVs. I had been begging them (like, literally sent a message on Twitter about it) to open another location outside the airport so I could go more often. They didn't listen to me, but they are opening a second location in the food desert that is Terminal 2. It might not be in my neighborhood, but I'm sure happy about it since that's my usual point of departure!

  • J T.

This place was great! Im glad MSP has been stepping up the food options; but keep finding myself here. Great selection of good eats. I find I get the salumi platter often or the red flannel hash. Serivce has always been really friendly and good. Can be a bit tight when full due to limited space and the layout.

For an airport this is 5 stars. If you like Mickey D's don't stop here. Great staff and food is amazing. Great people watching if you sit in the center section!

An oasis in the airport restaurant desert. Thanks goodness for Yelp because I would have walked by. Very nice food, freshly prepared, with a great wine list. Seating is in te middle of the concourse so be sure to look there as well as inside. Great, fast service, prices are about what you'd expect for quality.

Well i am sure happy I walked past this place on the way to Gate E5. I've been dreaming of Napa and a salumi cone from Boccalone up in SF and the deli case at Surdyk's transported me there for a moment. I could not pass up one of their pre wrapped sandwiches. It was really hard to choose as they had several tasty ones to choose from. The winner ended up being the ... (turkey, ham, salami and swiss cheese). It was tasty but there were some ingredients on the sandwich that I did not care for but were not listed on the ingredient label. Pretty rockin selection of some nifty bottled bevies. And wine by the glass? Hello wine flight. Paired nicely with some cheese. Boarding at E5 gotta jet!

This would be a great find in any American city - that it's in a airport is truly amazing. Come here sit in the bar (not on the "patio") and forget where you are. I had a nice arugula salad (which got better as it warmed) paired with a bold Italian red. Granted I sat next to a guy who was discussing the white tux he planned on wearing with his finance on FaceTime but the espresso I had at the end made it better. Highly recommend! And be ready for the music to either suck you in.

New favorite place at MSP... Thanks to a Yelp friend's glowing review (thanks Anne W.!), I knew we needed to hit this place since we'd be going through TSA security -- and man, was she right -- this place rocks! I loved the idea that we could have our own little table, out in the open walking area.... great for people-watching. Plus there was plenty of room in the Surdyk's only-area to hold our carry-on luggage. And...there were plenty of outlets to charge our phones and other devices pre-boarding. Talia was our server - and she rocked! Extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. We had a light appetite, so we split the Minneapple Panini and I had (all to myself!) the "Tiny Bubbles" flight. Both were lovely! Next time I'll definitely try the cheese & salumi plate - - that one sounded good too. This place is the BEST on any "Best of MSP" list. Hmmm... maybe I should make a list? :)

I don't think there's anything left to say, but I'll give it a go. I had about an hour to kill and decided to do that at one of the bar seats. I sat on the left side of the bar, where there is no large glass case, making it easy to watch the bartenders and chefs do their thing. I ordered a bloody mary- made with jalapeno infused vodka. Delicious! Excellent toppings!! I love a good bloody. I wasn't in a rush, so I took my time and ordered the chevre plate after a bit of time. The server was great and not at all pushy with my slowness. And the chevre. Oh man. I'm a sucker for delicious spreadable cheese, and even more of a fan of roasted garlic. Smear that on a freshly oiled and toasted piece of bread? Heaven. Good thing I'm flying again soon!

Seems like this is THE place to grab a decent meal and a good pour at MSP airport so I checked it out. The food was expensive and so were the drinks but whatever. I liked it, especially compared to other places I've eaten at in the MSP airport. Tons of wine to choose from and a good selection of premium liquors and beers as well. Food is put together right in front of you if you sit at the bar. Lots of cheeses and slices salamis to choose from or just grab a pretzel and toss back a beer. Recommended!

Let's be honest, airport food is very rarely something you want to have but this place changes that. If you have to eat at the airport then make sure this is the place you stop at. Good wine and a very knowledgeable staff. Food is fresh and well prepared. Enjoy!!!

5 stars - in an airport? Yes! If you are looking for an above average breakfast in Terminal 2, you need to try this. I've had 3 different breakfasts here and enjoyed then all. Everything is cooked to order, so give yourself some time.

  • Neal C.

Pretty good food, but the portions are tiny for the prices. Of course it's an airport, so the prices are going to be higher, but the portions should be more generous. 3 oz. salmon and 2 oz of beets for $16? Unreasonable. Sandwiches/paninis are flavorful and have crunchy bread-- but again, probably a 4 in. sandwich for $12.

In the past have had excellent service , wine and food here. Tonight the wine was good but food was fair and service was poor. The side dish of dill potato salad listed on the menu was apparently not available so instead I was served some sort of over herbed and spicy carrots. Not so happy that I wasn't told ahead of time and it was served to me with no comment on the substitution. When I finally got the servers attention and asked about it she offered to bring either beet salad or Brussels sprouts -depending on which was left. After lengthy delay I had to ask her about it again. Brussels sprouts finally came and not so great either. Most disappointing tonight was the lack of caring service. Too bad. I go thru the MSP airport frequently and was always happy to have time to stop here.

If I'm completely honest with myself, this place is a 4 in any other location. But at the airport??? We're talking over 5 stars here. Simply put, you've got to get your arse to Surdyk's if you're in MSP right now. Seriously. Big ups to the Yelpers who helped me find this place--you guys haven't steered me wrong, yet! The one trouble I had was actually finding it (this was only my 2nd time flying through the cities, I'm a SLC girl myself). So here's where to go: Inside the security zone on the airport mall's north end. Look for the words "main terminal" and/or "mall." Then, it's pretty tough to miss. Surdyk's fancies themselves as an upscale, European bistro--and they do a nice job pulling off that vibe. They serve actual food (not microwaved, weird processed stuff), that is so perfect in an airport setting, I can't believe no one's thought of it earlier. Light portions of salumis, smoked salmon, crusty bread, and stinky cheese. Top that off with cured olives and those perfect, sour-in-a-way-that-only-the-French-can-do, cornichons, and you've got the perfect snack for settling in at 35,000 feet. You know, come to think of it, maybe my mom was on to something. Now bear with me, but do any of you remember having to ride in the back of the car as a kid ... and maybe getting slightly motion sick? Did your moms ever stop and get you french fries to help "settle your stomach, with the salt?" Well, this place plays on those sensibilities--just classed-up a bit. Also different from my childhood is that you can get some adult beverages here. I think this is what they're famous for in their downtown location, but they play up the idea in a pretty cute way by serving wine "flights" as well as full pours. Jeeves (that's what I call him when we travel) and I had a flight of bubbly and another of the Spanish reds (hey, we were here for four hours!) and found all six to be decently mediocre. But, hey, I'm not one to complain about drinking European wine in a midwestern airport. I'll leave that for a lesser soul. If you're still reading, do note that this place closes relatively early (9pm), and won't pour you any alcohol on Sundays (Minnesota law, apparently). I still think it's worth it for their tasty, salty treats, and challenge you to find a better spot in any U.S. airport.

Doesn't every other airport just seem so shitty compared to the lovely MSP? I know a big part of that is Surdyk's Flights. I feel spoiled by this place. The service is lovely, you can grab a quick bite as you run past, or lounge and relax with a ham & cheese brioche when you got through security faster than you expected. There are obviously a ton of great things about this place, but the must grab is the Rustica cookie + tiny wine combo. It's my favorite plane snack. That tiny wine, with the little cup for a lid, is a bargain compared to buying it on the flight, and it ain't half bad. + For all the outlets and little booths with TVs.

  • Jess F.

Amazing! Every time I have to fly and they're open, oh yes, expect me to get my flight snack here. It blows all other options out of the water in terms of food, deserts, snacks, wine, and even service. Have taste buds that need a jolt after a long flight? Surdyk's Flights is that helpful friend.

Okay, I'll admit--I didn't understand what all the hype was about. I mean it's an airport restaurant/bar, right? I GET IT NOW. This place is a-mazing and next time I have a flight, I might actually go out of my way and come to the airport two hours earlier than I normally would just to hang out at this place and with the fabulous staff, wine and food! 1- Service and staff here is absolutely awesome! So attentive, professional and cool. 2- I split the MINNEAPPLE sandwich (with my mom who was my traveling companion) because we weren't overly hungry. SO good! They even gave us both a portion of the accompanying side - we chose beets. Highly recommend. 3- Wine! Enough said. I had two glasses and felt ready to take on the world (or just my flight). 4- Ambiance. THEY PLAY GREAT MUSIC. From James Taylor, Dave Matthews to Bob Marley - it was like they could see my favorite playlist. I felt that I was hanging out anywhere but an airport! Totally in love; I will definitely be back on my next trip to the MSP airport.

Skip Ike's and try what for me was one of the best airport meals I've ever experienced. From the wine sampler to the layers of Flavors in any of the fare and the truffle cookie...you will walk away savoring the cornucopia of flavor. The owner was as attentive to customer wants as was every employee. Since I first wrote this I've been back twice...it just keeps getting better, what a great place!

Double confirming 5 stars here. I would come to Surdyk's flights even if it was not at the airport. For the road warrior, this is as close to paradise as one can get on a layover. Quality wine and quality made to order food (as well as pre-made sandwiches if you have no time to wait). The salmon in parchment was delicious and accompanied by light tangy roasted beets. The whole wheat soft pretzel was quite good when slathered with a whipped cream cheese-beet-horseradish spread. Thank goodness for Surdyk's flights! I've actually been to the big Surdyk's location near downtown and prefer the airport venue, which is hard to believe but true.

Great food and quick service. Nice to find a good restaurant in an airport. I had the: grilled rustic bread, topped with La Quercia prosciutto, sautéed spinach, two poached eggs, and house made tomato salsa. Very good one egg was a little over-cooked. Latte was delicious.

Found this with help from Yelp, and glad I did. I can only rate the brief visit I had, but it seemed good and I'll go back next time I'm at MSP. The name is an amusing play on aviation and tasting alcohol, and seemed almost too cutesy, but the place is a solid little restaurant and wine bar. I just had a banh mi from their cold case and a bottle of pop since I was in a hurry. The menu looked promising. The wine list is big, and the beer list is short but interesting. Odd seeing Miller Lite described alongside better beers... As usual, prices are high at airports. $9 for, essentially, a sub. But the bread and ingredients were good, and if the other options are $7 for a fast-food sub or something nearby, I'll pay a couple bucks more for something tasty. It's a pretty small place, with tiny booths that had a TV in the wall; there are more tables out in the corridor. Service was professional and friendly.

What a great place to spend a 4 hour layover! I arrived in Minneapolis in the morning and my next flight wasn't until the afternoon. Surdyk's has a great wine selection and I ended up buying a bottle to take with me (way too early in the morning to drink any). They have a decent gluten free menu - I ended up having their meat and cheese plate with rice crackers to snack on for lunch before I caught my next flight. I'll definitely be back next time I'm passing through!

This is the best airport concept in the country. I leave early for the airport now so I can stop at Surdyk's. There is no reason to go to the Minneapolis Sky Club any longer. Please open in Atlanta! Also, the mini TV's in the booths are awesome.

Didn't expect much from airport chow but would give this place a good rating if I were in downtown atl. Service was outstanding, the turkey sandwich was perfect. I didn't like the cab I ordered and it was immediately replaced with another wine after I OK'd the sample. Quinoa salad was the only part lacking, would go with the mixed greens side salad next time.

Not often can you find such a good food option in an airport. I am glad I trusted the advices of fellow yelpers, this place is excellent, everything made from scratch. I had both the parchment pocket salmon and the tomato, mozarella and pesto baguette, they were the best meals I had in an airport for years.

Summary: Probably the best place to eat in the airport. So, I have no choice but to return. Although over priced. Pros: Easy sandwiches to grab and go. Cons: Overpriced. Not really worth the cost. I'd recommend any of the heated paninis. The cold sandwiches leave you feeling unsatisfied.

Great service. Power outlets everywhere Love the wine 'flights' (tastings of 3) idea High quality panini super good Thanks for making traveling less painful

The BEST option at the MSP airport - hands down. It is a fantastic, interesting gem of a cafe/bistro - with good options for a snack, meal or cocktail. The service has usually been fantastic as well. Do yourself a favor and saddle up the bar to eat. The staff behind the bar are friendly and engaging. Delicious and you feel great after eating there due to the food quality. Only suggestion - partner with a local free-range egg farmer and promote that! Love the Rustica cookes!

On a positive side they have inexpensive food vs other places in the airport. However, despite the name "Flights" you can't take wine on your flight to drink. That is Delta's fault so I did not rate them based on this...this is just my tip for you. After all, I love Surdyk's and will continue to support them.

Ridiculous - ranking this up there with One Flew South (ATL). Even though the menu is limited here, I have to give it to them. Ordered Organic Spring Greens with roasted beets, local organic chevre, toasted walnuts, red onion, balsamic vinaigrette - better than the salad I had at 112 Eatery in MN the night before. I didn't try the baked goods or desserts - all of it looked amazing. To the point where you wonder what all the other restaurants in airports are thinking slinging crap. If you're connecting, run in here and get something to go. For airport food, this is easily 5 stars.

I travel to MSP every week - and every week I make sure that on my way back I have enough time for the most epic Smoke Salmon Salad I've ever had! Amazing!

What's not to love. Great simple food. Great wine and beer selections. An upscale place to waste some time before your flight. This place makes me wish Surdyk's would open a stand alone cafe in the city.

OMG. Fabulous food!! We shared the caprese salad--so fresh and delicious! And we shared the Minneapple Panini. Gooey Brie just melts in your mouth. Attentive service. Nice atmosphere. Unexpected find!

This place was buzzing like a bee hive when we arrived to buy a gift bottle of special wine and also get something to eat before climbing into the long metal, narrow tube with wings. The wine selection was easy enough since we knew exactly what bottle of wine we wanted and we found it right away. However, with the noise level and the busy-ness inside, ordering at the counter felt frenzied. But we were assured they got our order and said they would bring it to us. Outside in their "mall" seating area, we found an open space and got ourselves situated. A short time later, our glasses of wine arrived, and then our baguette with prosciutto and arugula. The wine and shared sandwich were delicious. And the seating in the mall area was great for people watching and chatting to our table neighbors. I find that traveling usually brings me out of myself to boldly reach out and meet new faces.

Whether looking for healthy fresh food (perhaps a Tina Nicoise salad to go) or a classy glass of wine and gourmet meat/cheese plate to sit and enjoy, look no further. This place is awesome for an airport!

When my wife and I have some extra time at the airport, this is the place we sometimes try to hit up before heading over to our gate. We've been here a couple times now, and each time we got ourselves the salumi plate as a nice pre-flight snack. It is the perfect way to eat before a flight. Not too heavy but still substantial enough to be called a meal. Definitely better than much of the other fast food type stuff in the food courts. I admit, sometimes I go straight for the fast food when I am in a hurry. But on those days when that option just doesn't seem like a good idea, Surdyk's Flights is a great high quality airport dining option.

I stopped in to buy lunch for my foodless domestic flight, not knowing what a treat I was in for. Although pricey, my ficelle sandwich (super slim baguette with ham and butter) was amazing! I also bought a salad with chicken which was okay -- nothing special but a way better option than the food they were selling in coach. I would definitely try and get to the airport earlier so I can have a meal here. It looks like prosciutto heaven!

Surdyk's is great to begin with, but if you're looking for a meal at the airport you should go directly here. Everything you order will be delicious, and you won't feel disappointed about spending $10 on a mediocre sandwich someplace else, or have to stand in line for half an hour for service. Also, wine, obviously!

This is the best food you will ever find at an airport. Trust me, I spend 80% of my life on the road traveling all over the US. This place is a diamond in the rough and it actually makes me look forward to traveling through Minneapolis. From their dried meats to their wines, you will not be disappointed with anything on the menu. I wish there was one of these at my home airport in Chicago. If you are going through MSP (Minneapolis airport) anytime soon, stop by and grab a seat at the counter. Order the cheese and meat platter with all of the happy sides and a glass of deep red wine. Your delay or layover will blow right by.

I actually book flights through MSP because of Surdyk's. And I make sure I have time for wine flights & food. Best airport food anywhere, and it even seems insulting to call it airport food.

  • Cynthia G.

I had a flight of 3 Spanish and Italian wines and the 3 cheese and 3 sulume plate. It had grapes, nuts, dried apricots, and bread. It was great to sit and enjoy the wine at a corner table during my 3 hour layover. I recommend it to anyone with a little time to spare.

this is a great little shop/wine bar/quality made food to go or eat there kind of place in MSP airport. I always order their panini sandwiches which they make right in front of you, soooo delicious. they also have pre made ones in the cold section that i've had as well and tasted just as good. the desserts are yummy, had a big O brownie, a brioche with chocolate inside and a pretzel before and i would get them all again.

Holy diamond in the rough! This place has no business being in an airport. Local meats and cheeses, fresh made sandwiches and salads, a very well selected wine list, and Dr. John and old school James Brown on the box. What the what? I would intentionally route through MSP just to eat here.

  • Kimberly T.

Hands down the best food option in the MSP airport. Bummed that I've been booking early morning flights for the past 6 years because I've truly been missing out! I sat at the bar & ordered a salad with the wine pairing, which was a Riesling. Both were awesome and pretty reasonably priced, to the point where I ordered an additional glass of wine. With that glass, I needed bread. So I got some delicious bread to soak up the wine prior to getting on my flight. Very nice bartenders & a great atmosphere to meet people - in the 2 hours I sat at the bar I met a lady from London & another lady who knows my new home of Arizona like the back of her hand. Belly up to the bar & be prepared for excellent food and drink!

You can't help but feel fancy catching a bite to eat before a flight at Surdyk's. The wines are incredible, and the wait staff makes excellent recommendations. The food (prepared in front of you at the counter) all looks incredible. If you need a comfy, cozy place (and it is very small) to catch up on your emails or read a book, this is a great escape from the craziness of the airport. Come hungry! I was already full when I arrived, so I could only partake in a glass of white wine and a pretzel with an amazing pink ginger-ish sauce. Very good, but I sure wish I could have stuffed myself at Surdyk's. Don't make my mistake; get yourself a full meal!

I write this review with mixed emotions. From the outside this place looks like a really cool wine bar/restaurant. I travel alot and completely understand when you're at an airport your choices are limited. Overpriced, skimpy, poor quality. Which sadly all these things describe Surdyk's. Oh, and one other thing: Bad service. This place is a little confusing? Do you seat yourself? Does a host or waiter seat you? Do you order from the cooks (I won't give them the courtesy of calling them chefs) behind the counter like a sushi chef? When I did sit down it took awhile for someone to take my order. I don't know why it took so long since I was the only one sitting at the counter. The waiter would do a magical vanishing act and go to the backroom doing who knows what? Decided on the panini which wasn't anything special. It came with a handfuls worth of lettuce, with one glass of good wine (the only saving grace of the place) for almost $25. Highway robbery! Took awhile to get the bill. Hey, I got a plane to catch. Move it! If I go back I'm just going to have a glass a malbec that's it.

I don't like to give out five stars to places for many reasons, but since this place is in an airport and it STILL serves great food, I had no choice! They have an excellent wine selection by the bottle and by the glass. They also have a nice selection of beers. In addition, the food is fresh, delicious, and REAL! There is no standard pre-packaged airport food here. If you have at least an hour in between flights, then you can stop here, even if you have to take it to go. If you have an hour, you can reach this place from anywhere in the airport and trust me - it is worth it. I often fly through MSP JUST so I can stop here for a glass of Vino Verdhe and a salad for my next flight, as opposed to SLC or some other Delta hub. This is in the main mall of the aiport, so it is centrally located. It is on the C & D concourse side of the mall, in case you aren't familiar with the airport. I love to get the smoked salmon salad. It is not too big, but has just enough protein and greens to give you a nice meal for the next few hours. I have had a few sandwiches here and I have never been disappointed. My husband came through here with me one time and he had the grilled cheese. It was FABULOUS! If you are not a wine drinker and want to try a nice pairing, you can ask them to recommend somehting new, or just follow their recommendations on the menu. They also make their own bakery items and they are all excellent as well. If you are feeling like something a little more comforting, try one of their pretzels. They are great with a nice mustard sauce. I hope to check in there shortly! Enjoy!!

The food is real good, wine flights interesting and well crafted. However, service time can be a challenge - though they are working on it. Strategy: go inside and pick up a menu, seat yourself and decide; hen lasso the waitress. Make sure to tell her you are on a schedule. When the food comes, ask for the check and have her run it while you eat and enjoy.

This was my first visit to Surdyk's at MSP. I had been in the United lounge when I realized I had a flight delay, travelling on Delta today. Even though I had access to free (my favorite word, btw) drinks, snacks, treats, and the like in the lounge, yelp convinced me that I should seek out Surdyk's during my half hr delay. So, I picked up my Sound Closet and wheeled it from the lounge over to Surdyk's, and might I say, I was happy I did. I had the Salumi plate with the suggested wine pairing. The plate came with at least 4 different meats, maybe 5, plus cornichons, olives, marcona almonds, candied walnuts, two different types of pickled peppers, a homemade soft baked pretzel stick, spicy mustard, and crostini. Well worth the price tag. I ate about 1/3rd of it with the wine pairing, then they packed the rest to take on the flight. As the Sound Closet & I sit here in first class, MSP-EWR, lord knows the airplane wine and the snacks-- mini pretzels & a twix bar from the snack basket-- can't hold up to the wine & charcruterie of Surdyk's! Ill admit I'm a CO (therefore, now UA) person, but I'm so glad to see another great place to eat at a Delta hub! Between Surdyk's in MSP and OFS in ATL, I'm set for meals when I travel on Delta!

During a recent snowstorm, I spent eight hours in the Minneapolis airport trying to find myself a seat on a series of eventually-cancelled flights. The one bright spot in my eight hours of desperation? Surdyk's Flights. Surdyk's is new since the last time I'd connected through MSP, and I was thrilled to find it. What a wonderful spot for lunch, a glass of wine, some cheese, a little dessert. This place is like an oasis of gourmet calm for harried travelers. You can even buy a bottle of wine and take it with you, though not on Sundays (I always forget about those pesky Minnesota liquor laws). My favorite item here is the Minneapple panini. Apples, brie, caramelized onion - it's all my favorite things toasted together between two slices of bread. The sandwiches come with a fabulous little dish of potato salad and some truly interesting pickles as well as a few olives. The glasses of wine are very reasonably priced (I had two) and there is a great assortment of small plates to try. To top it all off, they give you a little Bit O'Honey with your check. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming too; there are TVs at every booth tuned to the cooking channel and eager waitstaff to take care of you. Without a doubt, Surdyk's is my favorite airport food anywhere in the country - though to call it airport food truly does not do it justice. Eventually, I did manage to get myself on a flight and reluctantly left Surdyk's... but you can bet it'll be my first stop the next time I connect through MSP.

I love a good cheese plate and glass of wine, and this place is top notch. I really wish they had a site outside the airport! Great booths, awesome food, fabulous selection...I want to come to the airport early for my next flight just so I can stop here again!

Many large airports nowadays offer one or two true dining gems amongst the crap, and it certainly seems like Surdyk's is the go-to place for MSP. While I thoroughly enjoyed the homemade pretzel with the beet-horseradish cream cheese, and the Minneapple panini was probably one of the best-made sandwiches I've had in a long time, I feel the limited full dining menu hurts it quite a bit. Prices are high, but they're airport high, or they're import-cheese-and-wine-shop high, but not a combination of the two, which would be quite astronomical, I imagine. Probably best suited for a long layover or a quick grab and go from the case out front, but still all quite good either way.

Update: 7/25/14: Stopped in again for great wine and a light lunch before boarding a flight to DC. Wines are excellent. Bottles of wine available for purchase - competitive prices great selection, and because you are beyond security you can take them on the plane. Great service, great food. See you soon. My favorite food spot at MSP for a fine glass of wine and a light sandwich. Nice selection of wines by the glass. Fresh crispy sandwiches. Sit out in the mid terminal seating area and watch the world go by. Seating is tight, but you're not there all day! Not cheap, but worth it. Stop by on a regular basis. Once a month I will stop back on my arrival at MSP and pick up a bottle of wine for home that I had enjoyed on the way out of town.

the best of an already fantastic bevy of options for food at the airport. I literally get pissed when they aren't open and I come through on the way outta town. Not because I can't get surdyks any ole time, but reminds me of when you were able to walk to the gate with a loved one to see them off on a long journey, but in this case it isn't your loved one that sits with you until your row is called, it's a fantastic tuna salad. I'm sure there is some comfort in that, right? Just don't try kissing the salad. That'll get security up in your grill in no time.

Good option at the airport for food that tastes fresh. I love to go to French Meadows on Lyndale but its airport food is not as good. The service is slow, so don't go if you are in a rush. I also found it hard to figure out what to order, and ended up getting a gourmet grilled cheese. It was good. If you are used to Surdyk's Cheese Shop and Deli, this is different. It's the best choice in terms of price and freshness of the food. I also like the option of picking up some cheese (for flight) or wine (for when you get there). The wine selection is good but the Surdyk's Liquor store in NE Minneapolis has the best selection (of course, more room) and has been written up in the NY Times for its selection and expertise of its staff. The airport has some good choices, but don't expect the staff expertiese.

Last stop on our whirlwind trip to the Twin Cities. What a completely civilized and delicious little restaurant serving up wine flights and European-style eats such as charcuterie plates, panini and the like. Great wine selection and some really nice cocktails on offer. Burned up a good hour here without breaking a sweat. No nicer way to spend a layover or pre-flight wait than this place. On a side note: NICE AIRPORT. Seemingly lots to choose from, and a number of quality choices in dining. This place, though, is right up our alley and it didn't disappoint. I would eat and drink here again *without hesitation* if I find myself on layover in MSP. Couldn't be happier with the experience!

One of my favorite places spots at MSP airport. Definitely recommended. Wines by the glass are actually not badly priced, but the flights are a much better deal. And, you get to try three different wines. The service was good, and they didn't bother me during a long layover when I took up one of the tables for a while.

  • Mike L.

I thought Vino Volo was the gold-standard for airport food/wine. Surdyk's takes it to a completely different level. The sandwiches and salads are excellent. My favorite is the Surdyk's Panini. All the food is very reasonably priced, especially for the airport. The bottled wine selection is decent and a great idea for somthing to pick up for your trip or coming home. Definitely a worthwhile stop if you are traveling through MSP!

Excellent place for a bite at what is one of my favorite airports. Surdyk's has a good selection of wines and spirits and some interesting drink concoctions on the cocktail menu. On this trip I enjoyed a well poured Hendricks and Tonic and some chicken liver mousse with cornichons and crostini. Yummy!!!

I love love love Surdyk's!! This restaurant is the best choice you have in the MSP airport. Shoot, its the best restaurant in any international airport. The wine selection is smashing. The sandwiches are gourmet and they slice the meat right in front of you. If you are lucky enough to get a booth - there are outlets for your computer and cell phone to recharge and a TV to watch. Each of the panini's are delicious - I am partial to the Minneapolis Apple Turkey sandwich. This sandwich is to DIE for. Its freshly cut turkey breast, brie cheese, apples, a few onions - delicious. I usually grab a glass of wine, glass of water, a sandwich and just unwind before my flight. It truly is one of the most relaxing experiences within an airport.

  • Katherine Z.

Hell f&%$ing yes. I wish I had gotten here earlier to spend more time eating/drinking. Cocktails, wine, beer, straight up booze. Yes. If you don't want sit-down service you can take your food and wine to go. I did both. Tipsy is how I fly. Helps calm the nerves.

Surdyk's flights wins for best airport food. (OK, ties with La Grande Orange in Phoenix Sky Harbor, which is also fantastic.) It's very reasonably priced, uses quality ingredients, and delicious. I usually cushion in some extra time before my flight so I can fit in a Surdyk's stop and if I'm arriving from a flight, I'll grab a sandwich to take home with me. I've had the Mineapple panini with beet salad from the fresh made menu. The peach sandwich and the chicken banh mi from the grab and go case. All had great balance of flavors and were filling, but light enough to not make you feel gross. Good bread too. If you're in terminal 1, definitely come here. I'm excited terminal 2 will get getting a Surdyk's Flights soon! I wish there were more...come to my neighborhood!

If something makes me want to get to the airport 2 hours early, just so I hang there, it certainly deserves 5 stars. My usual is the smoked salmon with capers and dill potato salad with a glass of New Zealand sauv blanc. Perfect! So much better than anything you can get on the plane -- or at most other airports, for that matter. I literally plan my flights so I can fly out of this terminal at meal times. I have a flight to Miami at breakfast time in a few weeks. Is it okay that I am already excited because that means I finally g

All-Caps counts as internet shouting, right? BEST AIRPORT RESTAURANT EVER. Every time I'm at MSP I make sure to stop in for an Aviation. If I'm peckish, I'll order some of those Marcona almonds to crunch on or maybe even the caprese panini with the side salad. As airport food goes, Surdyk's is tops. Service is impeccable with the servers staying aware of time constraints, plenty of room to stow your luggage while you sit, the cocktails are on-point, the menu is well-balanced, and the little dining area in the walkway is fun for people watching. Ever since this place went in, my positive experiences at MSP airport have risen exponentially.

Wow! What a delight to find this place. Had a 3 + hour layover and this place was awesome. This a high end Italian style, specialty shop. The sandwiches were on exceptional baguettes - the meats were superior - the potato salad and carrot salad were great. Nice olives. They had electrical outlets at each table to charge your cell phone while dinning. We were too tired to try the wine, but it was a nice selection. The chocolate chip cookies form a local bakery called Rustica were way above average. Get the pack of 5 and take them home. The place wasn't cheap, but it was well worth the slightly higher price! Enjoy!

A great find in the Minneapolis Airport - made my spouse want to travel to Minneapolis for vacation. We had the soba noodle salad and smoked salmon. Very fresh, very good, well-prepared, and didn't break the bank ($12 and $13 respectively). Usually airport food is so unhealthy and this was both healthy and tasty. You can dine in the place itself or out in the corridor, and there is wait service for both areas.

Better than OK - airport restaurants take note.. this should be your model Simple menu Great service Clean - i mean the type of clean and fresh you never find in a restaurant Ready for travellers Good options Interesting look - bistro theme - black tiled floor and Great quality, there is no reason to eat anywhere else, but the seating is limited. Menu changes daily - so check in you wont be disappointed.

I've been tempted to buy a place ticket just so I can get through security to eat at Flights. Seriously. I have. This is one of the best three restaurants I've found in St. Paul and it's in the TSA security zone! Sheesh!! Thus far I've visited 4 or five times; each one fantastic. My favorite is the cheese and salumi plate, which is definitely enough for a light meal, especially with the pretzel stick they include. One time it came with fresh figs (be still my beating heart!) And the wine flights...the Bordeaux flight is my favorite. Service is great - pleasant but not overbearing, and perfectly patient when I'm there for a few hours waiting for my flight. It blows my mind that Surdyk's doesn't do a place like this where it can be accessed without a plane ticket.

  • Scott R.

Good choices for a relatively quick meal--I'd allot 30 minutes for the experience, 45 if you have more time to be leasurely. Nice salad and sandwich choices, good bar (booze) selection, and good wines by the glass. For what it's worth, I usually leave the Delta sky club to eat here--service is good (not great, but mostly timely) and the food is worth your airport dollar. Try it--you'll like it.

  • B W.

Wow - what a great idea. Good wine, fantastic tasting wine flights, decent (albeit overpriced) food in an airport. I love the robust red flight. And they also have lots of electrical outlet so you can charge up and check your email while sampling wine. I will be back.

  • Amanda F.

Precisely what I needed on my brief layover through MSP. I had the three cheese and three salumi plate and was absolutely in heaven. It can be so difficult to find a good quality meal in airports, and I was immensely happy to have a well appointed plate of delicious cheeses and salumi to devour. Not that everything on the plate was murray's quality, but items ranged from good to excellent and exactly what a weary traveler and cheese lover like myself needs. Please expand to more airports! ATL needs you badly.

    (5)
  • Monica R.

My favorite place to stop while waiting for a flight! The wine flights are fun, excellent selection, and the snacks are perfect for before a flight- light and satisfying. We had a salumi and cheese plate and some warm olives. YUM. We're totally spoiled by the food options at MSP, and this one stands out even above the rest.

  • Joerg G.

I make it a point to stop by Surdyk's when I travel because it is hands down the best new food concept at the airport. Without a doubt any of their food/wine pairings beat (business class) airline service by a margin. If you are a local and are familiar with Surdyk's already still give this a try. I think you will recognize the downtown space but in a really sweet airport setting. Give it a go - you won't regret it!

  • Lilly M.

Oh I love this place! Darling concept, yummy sandwiches, a sweet little oasis from the typical airport food court. MSP airport is really stepping up the food scene, I've been to many a dismal airports where the only options are overpriced, poor quality and super greasy. Next time you're stopping over or heading out of town, grab a pre-flight bite!

This is the best idea ever since the liquid bans came into place. Great job capitalizing on this surdyks! They have a wide variety of wines, including quite a few Minnesota ones (I picked one up to bring for my hosts I was visiting). They also have plenty of cheeses and delicious looking baked goods. It's a nice change for grabbing a healthier, or more diverse snack when you're stuck behind the security compounds of the airport.

Excellent. This is good food anywhere., and never mind the airport. The mixed green salad and the triple cheese salami plate was perfect!

An Airport unexpected treat! I am in a lot of airports. This place has great atmosphere and service and quite a menu. It is 11am and they recommended French Toast ("we are still serving breakfast", she says). I loved it and not ridiculous airport prices. Worth holding off to eat at the airport...I can't believe I just said that.

A good restaurant in an airport? I found one, this place. I forget food is cheaper and more in volume. I had a nice side salad, the walnuts were fried in olive oil, I think, it totally made the salad. Then a Salumi plate, I love cured meats and salami but some was left when I left. I always think about sharing to the person next to me but would seem weird if I did... :). Next time if I am in the mood will have to try a Wine Flight and some small plates. I think it would be cool to have some history notes somewhere in front (maybe they do) it is good ole Americana. surdyks.com/Default.aspx…

Perfect fresh salad with arugula, prosciutto, Parmesan, and red onion. Fine service and very reasonable for all that ham. Can't miss here.

Awesome option, especially at the airport! Civilized, french bistro atmosphere but with wi-fi! Sat at the counter and watched them assemble scrumptious cheese and meat trio's. Looked so good I had to order myself - sublime cheese (oh the Brie!) and the salumi was world-class. Came with crusty bread, a nice spicy dijon mustard and those little cornichon pickles. . . Wine-wise ordered the chianti - very reasonably priced for the quality. Truly a destination dining environment nestled behind the security lines at the airport! Definitely check it out when traveling to the Twin Cities.

Great spot! Fresh food, personal service, special find in an airport! The price is a bit up there but for good food in an airport this is the best there.

My husband and I had some time before our flight took off recently. We were looking for a place to have breakfast and a bloody mary and stopped in at Surdyk's Flights for the first time. We were very pleasantly surprised at how clean and friendly the place was. We sat at the bar and had a totally yummy bloody mary handmade from their own mix. Also shared a breakfast pannini with scrambled eggs and bacon which came with a little bowl of mixed berries and other fruit. A wonderful experience at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport. Would definitely recommend this place!

I can't believe this. An airport. A wine bar in an airport that is better than a majority of wine bars in Washington DC that are not in an airport. Don't even mention those wine bars in DC airports-I'm amazed that the employees can even pull a cork out of a bottle because it seems most the wines have been opened for three or four days already. But an airport? Everything I want in a wine bar-the hanging cured meats, the cheeses, the wine, the knowledgeable servers, the food. Guess I should consider moving to the Minneapolis Airport.

For airport restaurants, this definitely is as good as it gets. I have probably eaten hundreds of salads with grilled chicken and some crumbled cheese, but this was by far the best of them all- every ingredient perfect, the combination, Yummm out loud worthy. The chicken moist and tender, the goat cheese creamy and fresh, the olives salty and yummoo, and the dressing, absolutely perfect. This was all I got, but this was enough to make my 12 hour day of flying a hell of a lot better. Everything else looked great though, lots of wines to choose from, and cute counters to enjoy your food if you have time to stay and eat.
